What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device. Websites use them to remember things, such as your choices, or to recognize you on a later visit. Similar technologies, such as local storage, do much the same job. In this policy, “cookies” includes both.
This Cookie Policy explains what the website at nahnuloginsheild.com (the “Website”) stores on your device and how you can control it. It is part of our Privacy Policy and should be read with our Terms of Use. The Nahnu Login Shield plugin itself is software you install on your own WordPress site. This policy is about the Website only.
How we use cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum. The Website does not use advertising cookies, social media tracking, or tracking pixels, and we don’t build profiles of visitors.
Strictly necessary: your cookie choice. The Website uses a cookie notice that asks for your permission before any non-essential cookie is set. To remember what you chose, it stores a small consent cookie on your device. Without it, the notice would have to ask you again on every page. This cookie is essential to the notice working, so it is set without asking first.
Analytics: no cookies. We measure visits with Plausible Analytics and Matomo, both hosted on our own servers and both set up without cookies. They don’t store anything on your device to recognize you from one visit to the next.
Forms and security. Our support and request forms may set a technical cookie or similar item that is needed for the form to work or to protect it against abuse. These are used only for that purpose.
Types of cookies
Our cookie notice sorts cookies and similar technologies into groups, so you can see what each is for and decide what to allow. These are the groups:
- Essential. Needed for the Website or the cookie notice to work, for example remembering your cookie choice. These are set without asking, and you can’t switch them off in the notice. You can still block them in your browser, though parts of the Website may then not work as intended.
- Required. Needed for a feature you asked for to work. They are only used when you use that feature, and the notice treats them as needing your permission.
- Analytics. Used to count visits and see how a website is used, usually in aggregated form. They are only set if you allow them.
- Marketing. Used to show advertising or to follow people across websites. They are only set if you allow them.
- Media. Set by embedded content from other companies, such as videos or maps. They are only set if you allow them, and until then the embedded content is replaced with a placeholder.
- Other services. Anything from a third-party service that doesn’t fit the groups above. They are only set if you allow them.
Cookies also differ in how long they last. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them. And they differ in who sets them. First-party cookies come from this Website, and third-party cookies come from another company’s domain.
On this Website, we currently use only the Essential group: the first-party consent cookie described below. We don’t use the Analytics, Marketing or Media groups. If that changes, we’ll update this page and the cookie notice will ask for your permission first.
Your cookie notice and consent
When you first visit, the cookie notice explains what is used and lets you accept or decline anything that is not strictly necessary. Because we don’t currently set non-essential cookies, there may be little for you to choose between, but the notice remains in place so that you stay in control if that ever changes.
Your choice is saved in the consent cookie. Along with your choice, the notice keeps a device identifier and the date you made it, so that we can show you what you chose and know when to ask you again. The cookie lasts for a limited time, never longer than 12 months, and the notice appears again when it expires.
The notice may apply stricter opt-in rules where we believe you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, and more relaxed opt-out rules elsewhere. It makes that decision in your browser, using your time zone and language settings. It does not look up your IP address to do so.
Records of your consent
We may keep a record of consent choices so that we can show that a choice was made. If we do, the record can include the date and time, your choice, a device identifier, device and browser information, and your IP address. We use these records only to show that consent was handled properly, and we keep them only as long as we need to. Information about how we handle personal information generally is in our Privacy Policy.
How to change or withdraw your choice
You can change your mind at any time. Use the cookie settings link or button on the Website to reopen the notice and choose again, or to withdraw a consent you gave earlier. After you do, we stop using anything you declined.
You can also control cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you see, block or delete cookies, and let you browse in a private mode that clears them when you close it. If you block all cookies, including the consent cookie, the cookie notice may ask you again on each visit. The Website will still work. How to do this differs by browser, so check your browser’s help pages.
Some browsers and extensions also send a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal. Because we don’t track you across websites or use advertising cookies, we treat all visitors the same way.
Third-party content
We don’t embed advertising or social media content on the Website. If we add something from another company later, such as a video, it may set its own cookies. In that case, the cookie notice will ask for your permission first where the law requires it, and we’ll update this policy.
If you follow a link from the Website to another site, such as the WordPress.org page for the Plugin, that site has its own cookies and its own policies. We don’t control them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we change how the Website works. We’ll post the new version on this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top.
